Introduction

Our modern internet and the infrastructure underpinning it are the highways we all share. In a distributed computing future, with blockchain as our financial backbone - L1s, L2s, and software optimizations can only do so much. The real limits often lie deeper, at the bottom layers of the OSI model.

That’s where DoubleZero steps in. It’s an ambitious project to build a private internet for blockchain infrastructure, taking control of the physical layer by partnering globally to tap into underutilized fiber. This creates a superfast highway open to blockchains for decentralized finance, computing, and AI use cases.

Luganodes has supported the project since its early stages, and as part of the DoubleZero Delegation Program, we’ve now received delegated funds. We are officially live on our Solana validators, utilizing DoubleZero’s private internet lanes. First, we’ll unpack the basics and explain our role in this project.

What is DoubleZero?

DoubleZero is a permissionless, high-performance networking protocol that connects blockchain nodes via a dedicated fiber backbone. Instead of relying on the public internet’s variable routes and latency, validators, RPC nodes, and other participants connect to DoubleZero’s meshed transport layer, which:

  • Filters and deduplicates inbound transactions before they reach validators

  • Routes traffic over optimized, private fiber for consistent low latency

  • Removes jitter, reducing variability in block propagation times

  • Provides DDoS resistance via edge filtration hardware

By separating transaction filtration from block production, DoubleZero frees validators to focus on execution and consensus — boosting throughput without centralizing the validator set. Its architecture maps to two concentric “rings”:

  1. Ingress/Egress Ring – Filtering spam, verifying signatures, mitigating attacks.

  2. Inner Data Ring – Carrying optimized, high-priority traffic between validators.

This design allows blockchain networks to approach the maximum performance physics allows.

The Impact of DoubleZero

Blockchains today are often constrained not by computation, but by network performance. Public internet routes can cause block propagation delays, inconsistent consensus times, and missed rewards for validators.

DoubleZero solves this by:

  • Allowing faster block propagation and vote transmission, improving validator earnings.

  • Supporting geographic decentralization by making it profitable to run nodes in underrepresented regions.

  • Enabling institutional-grade reliability, with performance tuned for low-latency finance and high-throughput apps.

  • Creating new economic incentives for contributors to monetize unused fiber capacity.

With 142 connected nodes already representing 3.29% of total staked SOL, adoption is improving Solana’s network performance for all participants.

IBRL: Increase Bandwidth, Reduce Latency - remains the core tenet and mission of this project.

Luganodes x DoubleZero

As a leading validator on Solana, Luganodes is now officially live on DoubleZero, running validators that benefit from and contribute to this new high-performance network layer.

Our role includes:

  • Operating low-latency validators integrated into DoubleZero’s private fiber backbone.

  • Participating in the Delegation Program, which incentivizes performance and decentralization.

  • Supporting testnet and mainnet-beta readiness, ensuring our infrastructure meets DoubleZero’s performance standards.

Our participation in the early stages and the delegation program underlines our consistent contribution to DoubleZero’s growth. By leveraging this fiber-powered transport layer, our Solana validators achieve faster propagation, reduced missed slot rates, and better MEV-aware execution.

Conclusion

DoubleZero is about to redefine how blockchains communicate at the physical network layer. By building a dedicated fiber backbone for validator and node communication, it removes bottlenecks that have constrained blockchain scalability for over a decade.

At Luganodes, we’re committed to supporting the infrastructure Solana, Ethereum, and other high-performance networks need for the next era of blockchain. Our partnership with DoubleZero reinforces our mission of providing world-class performance and reliability, while also supporting worldwide participation.
